Boston MA —
The wise people of street photography say “get close, closer, even closer.” With a pool between the photographers and subjects, using a wide angle prime lens, the photographer may need to walk on water. The alternative is to make the pool part of the picture — of course, walking around the pool is another alternative. Apparently I took the road more traveled counting on the reflections, on the odd shapes and color of the water and various triangular formations within the pool as well as above it.
Having the picture partitioned cleanly into two parts, I used two graduated filters to adjust the photograph to my liking: exaggerating the strangeness of the pool and keeping the serene ordinary as is. Life goes on whatever strange things happen close by — provided that they happen not too close to our skin.
